Star Wars: The Clone Wars by Topps is a great non-sports trading card set based on the upcoming theatrical release of the featured movie by the same name. This set has done an incredible job of capturing scenes from the movie in their base cards as well as the inserts. As you may have read in other reviews, we love to pull 1 of 1 sketch cards in our non-sports trading card boxes. They're one of the greatest things to come along in the non-sports card industry in years (in our humble opinion). There's nothing better than being able to pull a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork out of an inexpensive pack of cards!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is another great non-sports card offering from Topps. Topps has been a leader in the sports card and non-sports card industry as long as anybody and it's always a great time busting one of their high quality products. Once again, we were able to complete at least one base set from this product with plenty of leftovers. There were also several inserts and a 1/1 sketch card in our great review box. We got 4 of the 10 "animation cel" cards, which are great scenes captured on see-through cards. All you've got to do is hold one of them up to the light and you'll get an amazing scene just jumping right off the card at you. They're not captured very well in the scans above, so you'll just have to get your hands on them to see for yourself! There was also a serial numbered foil card #/205 which is a great additon to a non-sports set. The serial numbered idea is normally something that is seen in sports card sets, but is a welcome addtion to this non-sports card set. The 1/1 sketch card in the TradingCardReviews box was is of Jabba The Hut sketched by the artist Jason Keith Phillips. As mentioned earlier, pulling a sketch card is one of the great thrills of opening non-sports card products these days, so needless to say this box was a ton of fun to tear through. They may not always be quite as "high-end" as pulling a great autograph or something like that, but they're truly unique pieces of art.
TradingCardReviews was lucky enough to be able to pull a sketch card from our review box of Star Wars: The Clone Wars from Topps. Not everybody who opens a box of this product is able to get a sketch card like we did, they're not at all guaranteed to be one per box. Star Wars is such a great franchise that it was a pleasure to be able to open something from their latest offering of trading cards. It really gets you excited for the upcoming release (August 15, 2008) of the feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars which fills in the story between Episode I and Episode III.
Thanks again for checking out another great non-sports card review from Trading Card Reviews!! |
